StepUp Durham has shifted to operating via Zoom during the pandemic. They host all of their programming over Zoom, while making technology available to their participants who have barriers.
StepUp Durham offers employment training services to jobseekers facing barriers to employment. Once participants receive a job- they work to help stabilize incomes and foster career and personal development. Their mission is adults and children transforming their lives through employment and life skills training. Their vision is to be the premier resource in Durham County for people seeking to improve their lives and develop stable careers.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Use of practical skills (ex. helping participants with mock interviews or resume creation)
- Use of administrative skills (ex. helping StepUp with their database and intake)
- Use of relational skills (ex. partnering with participants or serving as volunteer case managers)
Volunteers should be 18 years of age or older. If volunteers are in college- then some of the positions are a little more restricted. StepUp also asks that volunteers are not on the sex offender registry as it will limit some of their in-person volunteer opportunities.
