Volunteering during the holiday season helps to bolster the joyous spirit and bring people in the community closer together; however, finding a service opportunity during this time can be daunting. That’s why Triangle Cares is here to help! At Triangle Cares, we have compiled a list of four great volunteering or donating opportunities from multiple nonprofits that will help you to spread good cheer! Here are some great ways you can get involved:

  1. The Angel Tree Program: A Doorway to Hope. The Angel Tree Program is a Christmas campaign at A Doorway to Hope that helps to provide families with necessities during the holiday season. By ‘adopting’ a family, you or a group of people can donate two gifts of basic necessities and two fun gifts to a family in need. You can also work as a translator or transporter of goods for this program as well. No matter how you volunteer, you’ll see the impacts of your generosity in the gratitude and appreciation of the family. Learn more at https://adoorwaytohope.org/volunteer/
  2. Pocket Trees and Pocket Menorahs: Note in the Pocket. Similar to the Angel Tree Program, Pocket Trees and Pocket Menorahs contain ornaments with labels for specific clothing items that Note in the Pocket needs for donations. Volunteers can take part in this opportunity by providing donations to the nonprofit and helping to clothe underserved children during the holidays. Pocket Trees and Menorahs can be a service activity completed by an individual, a group, a team, or a church. Learn more at https://noteinthepocket.org/donate-clothing-supplies/
  3. Season of Giving 2021: You Call This Yoga. The Season of Giving is an online auction run by You Call This Yoga to raise money for free yoga practices at the studio. The program lasts from November 15st to December 31st, and you can bid on or purchase a variety of unique and exciting items, such as vacations to North Carolina beach or mountain retreats. However, even though the prizes are incredible, the realization that you are supporting the nonprofit is even better. Learn more at https://youcallthisyoga.org/season-of-giving/
  4. Open Arms Open Doors: North Raleigh Ministries. Many people in North Carolina are plagued with fears of hunger, homelessness, and isolation, and it is because North Carolina ranks in the bottom six states for mental health services. By donating to Open Arms Open Doors, you can help provide individuals and families with hope, comfort, and nourishment. Also, if given enough donations, North Raleigh Ministries looks to provide mental health and counseling services in the future. If any of these volunteer opportunities resonate with you, make sure to sign up during the holiday season! It’s the season of giving, so let’s make sure to give everyone the love and support they need!
