About Durham Nativity School
Durham Nativity School provides an enriched learning environment and a twelve-year support system for middle school boys. Their students have the ability and commitment to achieve but not the resources for a quality, independent school education. Durham Nativity School promotes a rigorous academic program and nurtures the whole child to reach his potential through knowledge, moral values, learning skills, discipline, and character development. They consider their mission to be a twelve-year process with our students. It begins as students enter 5th grade at Durham Nativity and continues through their college experience. Durham Nativity School works to instill the value of service for others as they build tomorrow’s role models and community leaders.

Unique Volunteer Opportunities
There are many volunteer opportunities that Durham Nativity School provides that makes them a unique organization. For instance, there is an opportunity to work at the Koortbojian Summer Reading Camp as a volunteer counselor, camp counselor, or reading activities counselor. Durham Nativity also has many other volunteer opportunities to help support the students. Volunteers can work as after-school tutors, who work with students on homework assignments and in areas where students require extra support, or in reading circles, who read with students to reinforce their independent novels or materials from their class. There are also volunteer opportunities with library assistance, Spanish interpreting or translating, and art enrichment.

Incoming Head of School
Durham Nativity School chose to highlight their incoming Head of School, Vince B. Vincent, who starts July 1, 2021. He is going to be the fourth Head of School at Durham Nativity School, following Dr. Daniel Vannelle who has served the school for 16 years. Vince is coming from The Woodhall School, an all-boys boarding school in Bethlehem, CT, where he began as Dean of Students in 2016 and now serves as Associate Head of School. He graduated from Vassar College with a BA in Music and received a Master of Music degree from Yale University. He is a former professional opera singer who has traveled the world. He has also worked at the Millbrook School (NY), the School of Creative and Performing Arts (NY), and Oakwood Friends School (NY). Vincent says, “I am humbled and grateful for the chance to serve and join the Durham Nativity School community. When I first learned about Durham Nativity School I was instantly drawn to the heart and soul of this vital and powerful mission. Now more than ever our world needs young men of character.”
